Czech Republic, 1990s
Lightweight and comfortable, this classic armchair from Thonet has a cane seat and a bentwood frame of solid beech, with both the armrest and the backrest and back legs moulded from a single piece. A favourite of architects, the 209 was famously used in Le Corbusier’s Weissenhof Estate, Stuttgart, in 1927.
