Teak Folding Box Desk with Lamp by Mummenthaler & Meier

Info

Sweden, 1960s

This “Magic Box” folding desk, first designed in 1928 by Swiss architects Mummenthaler and Meier, was produced in the 1960s. The teak box closes up completely and locks with a key. When fully opened, it has a large fold-down writing top, lit from above by a retractable built-in light that is original to the piece. Below the desktop sits a shallow drawer. The piece features numerous small shelves and storage compartments made of maple, creating an entire office.
